First run in 2021, the caravancampingsales Innovation Awards is an annual event that both recognizes and rewards some of the leading products and services in the Australian RV industry.
Pointing the spotlight on the industry trailblazers and outside-the-box thinkers that work and play in the booming caravan and camping leisure market down under, the caravancampingsales Innovation Awards are founded on the premise that advances which improve or enhance the RV industry are worth recognising and celebrating.
Previous winners are testament to this, including the ground-breaking Harvok Suit of Armour caravan that won the Best New RV category in last year's Awards, and the unique Melbourne-built Geotrek camper that was the inaugural Best New RV winner, although sadly it never made it into production.
The caravancampingsales Innovation Awards also reward creativity and endeavor that result in new products, systems or services that deliver greater connectivity, accessibility and sustainability for the consumer.
However, the finalists chosen in each of the four categories are not always the company or brand with the most expensive, or impressive product or concept.
"We consider all aspects of innovation when judging, and any of the category Awards could go to a simple idea that broadly advances the RV industry," explained caravancampingsales editor Chris Fincham.
As in previous years the 2023 Innovation Awards will be judged by an expert panel, with a trophy awarded to the winner in each of the following categories: Best New RV, Best New Product/Accessory, Best New Technology, and Best New Safety Feature.
To be in contention, the product or service must have been either introduced or launched to Australian consumers after Oct 1, 2022. While it doesn't necessarily have to be designed or built, or have originated in Australia, all finalists must be featured in some way on the caravancampingsales website.
The judging panel for this year's Awards includes experienced Carsales' automotive and RV journalists, RV Editor Chris Fincham and Production Editor Rod Chapman, along with regular contributors Michael Browning and Phillip Lord, both of whom boast a combined 70 years' experience in the motoring and RV industries.
Over the next couple of weeks we'll announce the finalists for each category, and explain why each is in the running for an Innovation Awards trophy.
