Never get lost with new VMS offroad GPS
Big-screen sat-nav unit has you covered both on- and off-road
According to 4x4 guru Allan Whiting, a GPS with remote-area mapping is an excellent tool for navigating regions where there are no road signs and few landmarks.
The latest Touring 600 GPS unit from VMS is designed for both on-road and off-road travel, preventing the need to have two separate units for that big trip off the beaten track.
It features a 6inch (152.4mm) display; the largest of any 4x4 GPS on the market, according to VMS. It’s also 25 per cent slimmer than the company’s current flagship unit, the Touring 500S.
The 600’s street navigation is powered by WhereIS maps, while its offroad component is preloaded with iTopo Australian 4WD maps amd Gregory’s Outback Touring maps.
Other features include a touchscreen display, bigger capacity lithium polymer rechargeable battery, and the option to fit a dual camera kit to provide rear vision behind the tow vehicle as well as behind a caravan when reversing.
It’s priced at RRP $990, from VMS dealers, or visit the
VMS website
for more details.
