SA-based vehicle electronics manufacturer Redarc has produced a handbrake alarm, the HBA1224, for use in the truck, commercial, motorhome, 4WD, caravan and camping industries

It sounds an alarm when you leave your vehicle without applying the handbrake, which should help prevent a potentially disastrous runaway situation when parked on an incline.

Designed for universal fitting, it can be installed in both 12V and 24V applications, while itscompact size (50x60x25mm) makes it suitable for dash mounting in most vehicles. It retails for around $170 from many auto electricians and comes with a two-year warranty.
